Vermonters for Vermonters. Vermonters for Vermont. Vermont for Vermont.

The Vermont
Way of Life.
Worth Protecting.

Vermont was built by farmers, tradesmen, veterans, small business owners, property owners, and working families. VT4VT exists to give Vermonters a voice.

What is VT4VT

VT4VT is an independent grassroots movement focused on protecting the people, communities, and traditions that built Vermont.

We believe Vermont's future depends on keeping Vermont affordable for the people who already live here.

  • Affordable homeownership
  • Private property rights
  • Local control
  • Small farms
  • Small businesses
  • Veterans
  • Working families
  • Government accountability
  • Transparent taxation

When assessments rise, people feel it.

Across Vermont, property assessments are increasing dramatically - often based on extraordinary COVID-era market conditions.

Many homeowners are receiving reassessments that have doubled, or more. For many Vermonters:

  • Wages did not double.
  • Retirement income did not double.
  • Farm income did not double.
  • Small-business revenue did not double.

Yet assessments often did. VT4VT is collecting real data from across the state to understand the impact and the resulting tax burden.

No Vermonter should lose their home because market values rose around them.

Regardless of how tax formulas work, Vermont should protect seniors, disabled residents, veterans, farmers, and longtime homeowners.

VT4VT supports examining protections used in other states:

  • Assessment and tax-increase caps
  • Homestead protections and senior freezes
  • Veteran credits
  • Agricultural protections

Communities know themselves best.

Vermont's communities are unique. One-size-fits-all policies imposed from Montpelier can create unintended consequences for rural communities.

VT4VT supports:

  • Strong local decision-making
  • Regulatory reform and faster permitting
  • Protection of working lands
  • Protection of private property rights
